About Our Artists
From a young age we have both been creative in some aspect, whether it be music or visual arts. I think growing up around nature has greatly influenced us as well. We both have an affinity to animals and nature.
We met at Fanshawe College where we were both taking the fine arts program. Both of us being very introverted, it took us some time to actually talk to one another. It wasn’t until the end of our second year that we started to spend time together and then by our third year we were pretty much inseparable. When we graduated from the program in 2012, we moved into a very small run-down apartment, but we were so happy because it was our shitty little apartment. We tried to keep up with our art after graduating but life really got in the way of things. My job that I had kept throughout college became increasingly more and more demanding. Over our many years together we have had a lot of life changes and struggles. We found it harder and harder to find time and energy or motivation to practice our art.
In July of 2022, we had given up on our hopes of buying our own home in the near future and were becoming increasingly more concerned with the area we were living in at that point. After some long conversations and considerations, we decided to move in with a group of close friends. We found a perfect place to rent with plenty of space for all our hobbies and fur family. This move was something very life changing in a positive way, we were surrounded by a supportive community and slowly we began to re-engage with art.
I think it was around December of 2022 we started brainstorming ideas to grow our passion for creating into a small business. E-commerce just made sense for our time and budget. So Leaky Inkwell was born. This is a great opportunity to challenge ourselves not only creatively but entrepreneurially as well. We are both excited to see where this adventure will lead.
